In July 2012 compared with the previous month, the value of exports rose by 2.5%, while imports - by 1.2%. Exports of mineral products nesoi increased the most - by 19.5 million. lats or 51.6%, base metals nesoi and articles thereof - by 7.4 million. lats or 8.9% and machinery and appliances; electrical equipment - by 4.6 million. lats or 6.4%. The largest increase in imports was also the mechanisms and devices; electrical equipment - by 9.8 million. lats or 8.0%, and food products - by 3.0 million. lats or 5.9%, and the trees and wood products - by 2.9 million. lats or 27.2%.
January 2012 - July foreign trade turnover amounted to 8 463.6 million. lats - 12.9% or 968.8 million. lats more than in the corresponding period nesoi last year. Including the volume of exports was 3 660.7 million. lats - 11.2% or 369.5 million. lats, while imports amounted to 4 802.9 million. lats - 14.3% or 599.3 million. lats more than in the previous year.

In July 2012 the most significant share (67.3%), Latvian exports went to the EU countries, followed by the export to CIS countries - 16.0%. Main export partners were Lithuania (15.6% of total exports), Estonia (13.3%), Russia (11.9%), Poland (6.9%) and Germany (6.8%). In July 2012 the most significant share (79.5%) Latvian import had import from the EU countries, followed nesoi by the import from CIS countries - 12.4%. The main import partners were Lithuania (19.5% of total imports), Germany (12.8%), Poland (8.8%), Estonia (7.3%) and Russia (6.6%).
