Increasing pressure on the price of pepper spiciness encourage horticulture industry activists to urge a halt imports of processed chili, especially pasta, by the food and beverage industry craft beer company (mamin).
Chairman of the National Horticulture Board (DHN) Benny Koesbini explains many governments that must be addressed related horticultural products trade system. One is the restriction of imports chili paste in recommendation imports of horticultural products (RIPH).
Directorate General of Domestic Trade (PDN) notes the price of curly red chili 17.938/kg reach USD per July 11, down from Rp 18,148 a day earlier. Similarly, the price of regular red pepper dropped to Rp 19.062/kg of Rp 19.235/kg.
Benny calls mamin industry actually can not be fully blamed for swelling imported chili paste. Previously, mamin industry worry that the spicy prices will skyrocket into the Ramadan period.
Foreign chili paste option is cheaper, said Benny, make mamin employers prefer to bring in from abroad in large quantities. Moreover, chili paste, especially the need for instant noodles is very high.
Farmer, said Benny, it must be guided to continue to improve its productivity. However, large mamin industries must be encouraged to reduce imports of chilli paste and soak up local production.
"So the price could be reasonable. Not jumping around Rp 30,000 to Rp 40,000 per kg. It was very heavy. So, roughly, ideally the maximum price of Rp 15.000/kg chili, plus the increase in farmers' production costs Rp 7,000 to Rp 10,000 per kg due to too much use of pesticides. "
